Program Overview

The Top 24 for 32 Squad is designed to enhance the development of regional athletes by providing access to advanced training and educational opportunities. This initiative aims to equip athletes with high-performance strategies, guided by specialists with National Team and State Academy experience, to maximise their potential.

Led by Swimming Queensland’s Brant Best, the program focuses on delivering high-quality training and racing strategies, empowering athletes to integrate these techniques into their daily training and competitive environments.

September Clinic

Race strategy analysis, tailored to individual athlete needs.

January Clinic

Focus

Review of State Titles results and reinforcement of strategies learned in September.

Goal

To deepen understanding and application of high-performance approaches.

These clinics are designed to foster collaborative growth between coaches and athletes and promote continuous skill development within the region.

  • Swimmers will be selected based on their performances during the 2024–2025 season, with the 2025 National Age Championships being the final selection event.
  • The fastest eligible male and female swimmer in each Olympic program event will be selected.
  • Freestyle: 50m, 100m, 200m, 800m, 1500m
  • Backstroke: 100m, 200m
  • Breaststroke: 100m, 200m
  • Butterfly: 100m, 200m
  • Individual Medley: 200m, 400m
  • Must be a member of Swimming Wide Bay and a competitive membership.
  • Must have a competitive membership (youth, state, national)
  • Swimmers must be available to fulfill all team commitments.
  • Swimmers must be aged 13 to 16 years as of April 12, 2025.
  • Swimmers must not have represented a Queensland Swimming or Australian Swimming Team at a selected meet.
  • Citizenship status may be considered. Swimmers who have represented another international federation or are eligible for selection by another federation are ineligible.
  • Attendance at education/training days on September 24, 2025, and January 14, 2026.
  • Compliance with the Swimming Queensland Code of Conduct.
  • The team will consist of 24 athletes.
  • In cases where athletes qualify as the fastest in multiple events, and the 24-athlete quota is not met, the next best-performing athletes will be selected based on performance strength.
